Some of us feel we are entitled to own a home because it is the American dream, but many of us just can’t afford it.

For the past several years we have seen a decline in the real estate market across the country. A large percentage of homes have gone into foreclosure as people walk away from their responsibility. The issue began with the banks and their greedy loan packages while the balance of the problem remains with the homebuyer.

When we go to Las Vegas and gamble we know what the risks are. Gambling on an investment in the stock market or purchasing a home is no different than playing cards, feeding the slots or spinning a roulette wheel.

People who have lost their homes blame the banks. Many claim that they did not understand what they were signing and others claim they were misled. It is important that we look at the source of the problem and hold the lenders accountable. We only take what we are offered, but in the end it becomes the responsibility of the buyer when they sign on the dotted line.

When something sounds to good to be true, it just might be.
